Description
Virtual coaching is coaching that takes place using digital platforms for recording instruction and collaborating to improve teaching and learning. It typically allows more time for reflective practice and is more efficient and convenient compared to face-to-face coaching. Research shows it works.

Starting researching virtual coaching in the winter of 2020 as a way to overcome time and distance barriers. At the time, we had only one coach to cover over 2,000 square miles and 10 districts (13 elementary schools). Rolled out virtual coaching in the fall of 2021 with two coaches. Started small with 3 districts and have since added 2 more. We are currently coaching, or have coached, 23 teachers.

We are certainly not experts on VC, but we feel confident in the system we have created and we are realistic enough to know that we will be making tweaks and improvements as we move forward.
When video is at the core of instructional coaching, the entire process becomes more efficient and effective.
